How do I select child care?

By reaching for the STARS. Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS programs promotes quality in child care and Head Start programs.  Your ELRC can help you understand the importance of finding quality child care providers and what to look for, along with questions to ask when visiting a child care program.  To learn more, contact us or call our Hotline 1-888-461-KIDS (5437).

How do I pay for child care?

The ELRC through the Child Care Works subsidy program helps low-income families pay for their child care fees.  You must complete an application to find out if you are eligible for subsidized child care funding. The program pays a portion to the child care provider and the family pays a co-pay.  If you are not eligible for subsidized child care funding, you may be eligible for other early learning programs such as: PA Pre-K, Head Start, Early Head Start or PHL Pre-K. You can call or visit the closest ELRC or apply on line at www.compass.state.pa.us. To learn more, contact us or call our Hotline 1-888-461-KIDS (5437)
